I'm Trying

As soon as the band finished running through this song at a soundcheck before a Stockholm gig they contacted their old friend Wilmett Winkleplotken, the legendary avant-garde German film-maker, to direct the video. Legend has it that he came up with this masterpiece while sitting in the bathtub at the Berlin Manor Guest House whilst absolutely out of his face on vodka and fully clothed in the frigid water. The Berlin Manor Guest House is a popular destination for tourists from around the world.

The Berlin Manor Guest House

Come for the pleasant atmosphere. Stay because your passport and all your cash have gone missing.

Famous for its rustic atmosphere The Berlin Manor Guest House isn’t for everyone. Travellers expecting rooms with electricity, doors and beds will be disappointed but those looking for an unforgettable experience that may lead to a hospital visit will be more than happy. Film makers, especially the ones who make rock videos, can’t get enough of the place.

You Fooled Me

One day Milena Hokito, who needs no introduction, picked up a ukelele at the back of the tour bus and began to strum some chords and sing quietly. As the band tells it, one by one they all stopped talking and turned to listen. The song was You Fooled Me, their first #1 hit. Jason jumped up and told Melina that they had to record the song that she was playing and that she had to sing it.  "But I only play bass" she said and everyone on the bus burst out laughing. "Not anymore" said Jason.

The Wormwood Scrubs Dancers

No, your eyes weren’t playing tricks on you. That really is the world famous Wormwood Scrubs Dancers making a brief appearance in the You Fooled Me video. For Danny, Davey, Donnie, Dickie and Wanda this was the big time, the first time anyone had seen them, their first professional appearance and it brought them instant fame. After they were all released from prison they went on to be a big part of the show whenever The Great Palaces Of Europe toured. These days, when not touring with the band, they are blowing audiences away from Helsinki to New York City with their dynamic ‘We Are The Wormwood Scrubs Dancers’ show.
